Baker Law Firm is based in Calgary, Alberta, and focuses on commercial litigation, insolvency, and professional negligence. The firm operates fully remote. We are seeking a Mid-level to Senior Associate with 3 to 5 years of call.
Duties
- Carry an independent caseload end to end
- Own client relationships and client contact
- Conduct examinations for discovery
- Argue contested chambers applications and substantive motions
- Sit second chair at King's Bench trials
- Supervise and mentor a junior associate
- Move the firm's major contingency files toward resolution
- Develop business and earn origination credit
Candidate Requirements
- 3 to 5 years of call and good standing with the Law Society of Alberta
- Ability to run litigation files independently with trial or near-trial experience
- Ready to supervise and develop a junior associate
- Strong writing, advocacy, and judgment
Hours
- Annual billable target 1,500
Compensation and Benefits
- Base salary $130,000 to $175,000
