Baker Law Firm is based in Calgary, Alberta, and focuses on commercial litigation, insolvency, and professional negligence. The firm operates fully remote. We are seeking a New Call or Junior Associate with 0 to 2 years of call.
Duties
- Research and analyze caselaw and legislation
- Draft pleadings, affidavits, briefs, and correspondence
- Prepare affidavits of records and manage productions
- Appear in chambers on procedural and interlocutory applications
- Conduct examinations for discovery
- Carry smaller files end to end under supervision
- Work on the firm's major contingency files
Candidate Requirements
- Called to the Alberta bar or eligible for call shortly
- Interest in litigation and drive to build advocacy skills
- Clear writing and rigorous analysis
- Strong organization and attention to detail
Hours
- Annual billable target 1,350
Compensation and Benefits
- Base salary $90,000 to $115,000
